Thanks Living
"But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ."
I Corinthians 15:57 Amp
"Count your many blessings and name them one by one." I heard that somewhere a long time ago, I think it is a song. If it is a song, I do not remember the tune or the other words, but I do remember that one line. Counting my blessings is something I do not do enough of. How about you? As I write this, Thanksgiving Day is just a week away... it is a great time to count blessings.
Blessings abound in my life and I am sure yours. And I am thankful. I am thankful for the PRESENCE of the Lord in my life, for the Lord opening so many DOORS for ministry, for WAKING UP this morning -- another chance to "get it right", for my HAPPY marriage, for my GREAT children, for a WONDERFUL relationship with my parents, for CARING friends, for a secure job, for a beautiful home, for a playful puppy, for having food in my home enough for my family and to share (and I do share), for having clothes that fit and that I like, for a purple car, for having Godivia chocolate every-now-and-then .... (and so much more).
Counting our blessings regularly (read daily) is a part of "thanks living". It a reminder 1) that we have more than we think; 2) that it is God who is our source -- believe me if I only relied on my job, I wouldn't be so happy or blessed; 3) that little victories are all around us ... which fuels hope for the bigger ones to soon come to pass. Make today a day of "Thanks Giving". Take a few moments and thank God for all the blessings in your life -- it is the first step to Thanks Living.
