"... but if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (One who will intercede for us) with the Father -- it is Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father's will in every purpose, thought and action]. And He [that same Jesus Himself] is the propitiation (the anointing sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours alone but also for [the sins of] the whole world."
I John 2: 1,2 AMP

But What If I Sin ...

"Not again," I can hear myself groan as I confront the reality of my actions, words, and/ or thoughts that are contrary to my being a Christian and do not honor God or Jesus' teachings.

Yet again, I realize that I have lost a battle to sin. I find myself like Paul saying that the good I know to do, I do not do and the evil I do not want to do, I do. There used to be a time when I could not be honest with myself and admit that I do sin. I used to think that admitting I sinned was the same as saying that I was a sinner and that meant that God was going to get me.

But now I know differently. Now I know that though I may stumble on my walk of faith (okay, SIN). I am not a sinner. A sinner is one who is unrepentant. Now I know that if I sin, I have an Advocate who is interceding for me. Now I know that Jesus IS the propitiation for my sins. And it gets even better, not only did Jesus pay for my sins, but He paid for the sins of the whole world.

I am not looking for an excuse or opportunity to sin, but if I do sin ... I am quick to repent and thankful that Jesus IS the propitiation for my sins. I do not condemn myself ....and neither does my Father. I may lose a battle from time to time, but Jesus has already won the war for me! Why wouldn't I want to strive to live sin free ... But if I do sin, Jesus has me covered.
