What Kind of Workshop is This?

This workshop begins with a short Bible study on a particular passage of scripture, often we study the Psalms. After the Bible study a song which reflects the passage under study is introduced. Together, members of the study work to create a dance. An opportunity to perform the dance during the following day's morning worship service is extended to participants, however it is not required that people dance in the morning worship service.

Why This Kind of Workshop?

We believe that worship is both formative and expressive; Furthermore, we believe that worship is enhanced through the creative arts and that, as we grow in our knowledge of the Word, our knowledge of the Word will move us and shape our expressions of worship. There are many creative arts used in the church to enhance the worship experience ... Dance, Music, Poetry, Drama, Artist Crafts, and more. Our workshops will use the creative arts - especially dance, music, and artistic crafts - to enhance our understanding of the Word. ... Think of this as a kind of an interactive Bible study.

Who Can Attend These Workshops?

Interpreting Scripture through movement can be done by anyone, at any age. However, these sessions are only for people aged sixteen and over. Experience with dance is not required and we are willing to work with any level of physical ability. If you are over the age of fifteen and you are willing to explore how to move to the Word, you are welcome to join us!

When and Where?

Sessions are offered five times a year at Angel Community Church located at 446 Ada Street in Muskegon, Michigan... join us for one or for all our sessions. The workshops are facilitated by Michelle Loyd-Paige and the sessions are generally held on Saturdays from 10am to noon on the second floor of Angel Community Church. (see dates above).

How Much Does it Cost?

The workshops are free! The only cost to you is your time. We do ask that participants commit to stay for the whole workshop. Dress is comfortable clothes. A moderate amount of exercise and movement is required. You need not be a member of Angel Community Church to attend. All skill levels are welcome ... we will work with your comfort level.
