Prophetess Mallie O. Nichols

A Time To Be Born … Ecclesiastes 3:2
Mrs. Mallie Octavia Nichols was born on January 10, 1938, in North Chicago, Illinois. She was the fourth child of seven children born to the late Robert Clay Whitehead, Sr. and the late Mattie (Nice) Q. Howze. Of her six siblings, four were brothers and two were sisters: Robert C. (Valda)Whitehead, Jr., Cleopatra Cowins, Timothy (Kaye) Whitehead, Lawrence (Laura) Whitehead, Jacqueline Dorsey, and the late Kenneth Whitehead.

Mallie married, and is survived by, her husband Luke C. Nichols on August 31, 1996 in Grand Rapids, MI. She has four children by her first marriage to the late Charles Eugene Loyd: Michelle (Darrell) Paige of Muskegon, Michigan; David Loyd of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Darryl (Lillian) Loyd of Louisville, Kentucky; and Kristin (Justin) Williams of Dallas, Texas. Four grandchildren, Kevin Paige, Adrian Paige, Terrance Paige, and Justin Williams. Her marriage to Luke increased her family to include nine step-children: Michael Nichols of Omaha, Nebraska; Mark (Kelly) of Atlanta ,Georgia; Janet (Greg) Lewis of Omaha, Nebraska; Kathy (Dennis) Clarke of Atlanta, Georgia; Vicki Mongol of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Yvette Nichols of Louisville, Kentucky; Byron Nichols of Washington DC; Richard Nichols (deceased); and Anthony Nichols (deceased). And a host of step-grandchildren. She is also survived by a loving sister-in-law Roberta Loyd of Muskegon Heights, Michigan, a special friends, Gloria Walker of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Alphonso, Rosita, and Martina Young of Louisville, Kentucky and a large spiritual family who make up the members of Sure Foundation Ministries.

Mallie accepted Christ as a young child. She was baptized as a child at Shiloh Baptist Church in Waukegan, Illinois. As she grew in her understanding of the anointing of God that was upon her life, she studied to show herself approved of God. On December 8, 1985 she was ordained and installed as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A Time To Plant … “the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:8
Mallie graduate from High School and received formal training at a community college. Mallie was a stay-at-home mom for many years. After her youngest child was in school, she worked as an administrative assistant for several years. However, as the calling of God on her life grew stronger she left her work in the secular realm to dedicate her time to full-time ministry. Early in her ministry she became one of the co-founders of Be Still and Know Ministries. She later founded and led W.O.R.D. (Women of Royal Destiny) and P.I.T.S (Prophets In Training School) when she moved to Louisville. With her husband, Bishop Luke C. Nichols, she founded and pastored Sure Foundation Ministries. She was affectionately called “Mama Mallie” by many of her mentees and members of her congregation.

On Monday evening, January 28, 2008, in Louisville, Kentucky, Mallie Octavia Nichols was summoned home by her Maker. She is painfully missed by her husband, children, brothers, sisters, stepchildren, grandchildren, step grandchildren, friends, and members of her spiritual family from Sure Foundation Ministries.
